Gothenburg-based drummer Johan Björklund fronts this interesting group of brave, innovative, grooving musicians. In the music from the drummers pen, you can hear influences from Swedish folkmusic, African rhythms, heavy metal and of course a big dose of Nordic jazz. Combining this with the strong individual personalities of Mess, out comes a very interesting blend that sounds like nothing else… On the new album “St Amblendfollö Mess presents a varied spectra of tunes and settings, ranging from the full sextet with overdubs, down to a solo improvisation by guitarist Thomas Gunillasson. Johan Björklund – drums, sampler Lisen Rylander – soprano- and tenor saxophone, bass clarinet and voice. Andreas Hall – tenor saxophone Klas Nilsson – trumpet Thomas Markusson – double bass Thomas Gunillasson – electric guitar www.johanbjorklund.se
Stig Jonasson
